Practical Bird of Prey Course

So we’re tentatively booking in our first practical course! We will be limiting the course to 10 spaces, seeing how it goes and then maybe opening up for larger groups next time, but for now we’re playing it better safe than sorry!

The course will be held at Baytree Owl Centre and be run by Lucy Steele (Founder of Wild Things Rescue), Mark Birdsall (Owner of Baytree Owl Centre) and Mark Bett (Bird of prey rehabilitator).

10.00 – 10.10 – Welcome, introductions and house keeping
10.10 – 10.40 – Laws and ethics of rehabilitating birds of prey
10.45 – 11.15 – Hunting fitness
11.20 – 11.50 – Body condition and good diet
11.50 – 12.15 – Lunch and refreshments
12.15 – 13.00 – Practical – Imping
13.05 – 13.35 – Practical – Tube feeding
13.40 – 14.10 – Hacking
14.10 – 14.30 – Open questions

The course will be a mixture of presentations and practical elements to help you get to grips with birds of prey rehabilitation. Note: There will be use of cadavers in some of the practical elements.
